Product-specific details

Details below provide more insights on how our products work with your data.

Tangent engine

Core functionality used for model building, forecasting, anomaly detection and other related tasks is provided by TIM engine.

Tangent engine processes request made by user. It can be sent by one of our “client” applications, or other application operated by user. Request contains following data: dataset and configuration of a request. Such data is kept in memory and persistent storage temporarily during the time necessary to build models, calculate forecast and/or detect anomaly, or perform other computational actions necessary to fulfill request sent by a user. Once result of request is picked up by user, data is deleted. In case result is not picked up for a very long time so that it is unlikely such result would be needed anymore, or user account is not active anymore, Tangent Works reserves the right to remove data for such result from our infrastructure.

Information about requests made by users to Tangent engine can be collected and stored in our Telemetry database so we can improve our products, ensure service availability, make proper billing, and/or other reasons with focus on delivering high quality products.

Depending on particular deployment, Tangent engine can run in Tangent Works cloud running on Microsoft Azure, on premise at customer’s infrastructure, on edge device, or in customer’s own cloud.

Tangent API

Tangent engine allows to interact with its own API. Tangent implements REST API that holds information about dataset and configuration of particular request in body of request. Response from API can contain original data and other information about original data. Tangent API requires users to authenticate with HTTPS authentication, this means that all communications are encrypted and secure.

Depending on particular deployment, Tangent engine can run in Tangent Works cloud running on Microsoft Azure, on premise at customer’s infrastructure, on edge device, or in customer’s own cloud.

Tangent Studio

Tangent Studio is a web application that runs in web browser and uses Tangent engine via Tangent API.

Tangent Studio allows to store and manage datasets, build models and use them for forecasting and anomaly detection. Datasets, descriptions of models, calculated forecasts and/or detected anomalies, workspaces are stored in Tangent Studio storage until you decide to remove them. It can also store login credentials to other databases if you provided them while adding new dataset. Tangent Studio may store other relevant information necessary for its functionality such as login credentials, usage information and/or other.

All communications with Tangent Studio are encrypted with HTTPS.

Depending on particular deployment, Tangent engine can run in Tangent Works cloud running on Microsoft Azure, on premise at customer’s infrastructure, on edge device, or in customer’s own cloud.

Our Excel add-ins

Tangent can be used from Excel in form of add-in. Technically, it implements Tangent API. It collects data in active worksheet, adds configuration details depending on settings made by user via UI, and sends request to Tangent API.

To allow comfortable work add-in stores login credentials on user’s device, these data can be deleted by logging out.

Our Alteryx tools

Tangent can be used on Alteryx in form of tool. Technically, it implements Tangent API. It collects data in pipeline it is connected to, adds configuration details depending on settings made by user via UI, and sends request to Tangent API.

To allow comfortable work Alteryx stores login credentials on user’s device, this information can be managed within Alteryx UI.
