Tangent Works Wins Andritz Hackathon
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (Press Release)
TANGENT WORKS, a machine learning company, participated in a hackathon organized by international technology group ANDRITZ and PIONEERS Discover. The hackathon was centered on Big Data and machine learning analysis in the Industrial Internet of Things context (IIoT). TANGENT WORKS competed with several European software startup companies from 23 to 25 January in Graz, Austria. Numerous real-life IIoT cases were prepared by ANDRITZ and needed to be solved. TANGENT WORKS was able to outperform all other companies participating in the hackathon to claim the first place.
After the hackathon, Dr. Eng. Jan Dolinský, CSO of Tangent Works, said, “I was very much impressed by the high quality preparation of data science problems which reflected real industry needs. I was happy to see we could with data analysis only come to the results which supported ANDRITZ industrial experience. It is also nice that we could to the large extent utilize our product TIM to solve complex challenges and we relied heavily on Julia language. Last but not least, I was very much pleased by performance of my team members who did an excellent job in achieving this great result.“
Henk De Metsenare, founding partner of Tangent Works, added, “Although predictive maintenance is not today in the center of our activities, we always believed that our underlying know-how could lead into solutions that goes beyond our first implementations in energy demand forecasting.”
This award is added proof of that vision becoming a reality.
